Leah Burback - Heirloom & Native
For Chef Leah Burback, food has always been a way to bring people together by connecting family traditions, community stories and the bounty of Wyoming’s producers. Her business, Heirloom & Native, was born out of that passion. After teaching cooking classes and catering private events for years, Leah launched the company in 2022 with the vision of creating a more localized food system, one that celebrates what Wyoming has to offer.
Now in its third year, Heirloom & Native is more than catering; it’s a community-focused culinary experience that’s driven by a commitment to local sourcing and seasonal menus. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate gathering or community event, Leah offers free catering consultations and custom menus. These reflect the personality of each client while honoring the land and producers that make it all possible.
“Our menus change with the seasons,” Leah says. “We source Wyoming produce, meats and grains to bring fresh, thoughtful meals to our customers. We love sharing the stories behind the ingredients.”
That deep-rooted connection to place and people is what sets Heirloom & Native apart. Rather than competing with other food trucks and caterers, Leah views herself as part of a larger ecosystem. She openly shares her knowledge with others in the industry and works out of the Good Food Hub with the Wyoming Food for Thought Project, helping other small food businesses get started.
With a goal of eventually opening a brick-and-mortar location complete with on-site gardens, Heirloom & Native is building something that lasts. Every meal served helps shorten the distance between producer and plate, keeping dollars local and quality high.
“Success to me is becoming a regular gathering place,” Leah says. “We want people to feel connected to their food, each other and this beautiful place we call home.”
