If Dave Matula was asked what keeps him going in business, he won’t talk about sales goals or inventory; he’ll talk about the wonderful people in his life. If you sit with him long enough, you’ll likely see tears in his eyes as he shares.
“I’m blessed because of my clients,” Dave says, choking up. “They’re loyal. They followed me from my last position and they’ve been so good to me.” That loyalty has kept Paradise Auto going, and so have a few key people who showed up when Dave needed them most. “I wouldn’t be here without Steph and Terry,” he says. “They kept me moving forward when I wanted to give up.”
Dave’s vision for Paradise Auto was to create a place where people can buy a car without the pressure, the gimmicks or the runaround. What he ended up creating was something far deeper: a business rooted in integrity, simplicity and gratitude. “Life is better at Paradise,” he says. A felt sensation and more than a slogan, it’s the life he’s living.
What started as a one-man operation quickly became a community effort, filled with the support of friends, family and customers who believed in him. Paradise Auto is now known for its wide selection (ranging from classic cars to golf carts), as well as the way Dave and his team treat people with kindness, respect and a desire to help.
These days, Dave isn’t chasing the dollar. “I don’t care about making money anymore,” he says. “I care about being present, living in the moment and showing up for people like they’ve shown up for me.”
Paradise Auto is more than a business to Dave; it’s a testament to the power of faith, the strength of community and the quiet courage it takes to keep going, especially when you feel like giving up.
