For Heidi and Mike, it all started with a plane. Not a fleet or a business plan: just a single airplane purchased so their son could learn to fly. Word travels fast in a tight-knit community like Casper, and soon other aspiring pilots had begun asking questions. Soon afterwards, Atlas Flight School was cleared for takeoff.
Now officially one year into flight, Atlas Flight School has become a go-to destination for anyone in Wyoming with their head in the clouds (in the best possible way). Whether students are dreaming of a career in aviation or just want to fly for fun, Atlas offers a safe and exciting place to learn.
At the heart of the school’s mission are three principles: safety, achievement and excellence. Don’t let the structure fool you, there’s plenty of heart and humor as well. “We’re here to make pilots,” they say, “but we’re also here to build confidence, community and a lifelong love for flying.”
Atlas Flight School stands out with its cutting-edge technology. They're home to the only full-motion simulator in the state, the FAA-approved Redbird MCX, which allows students to safely experience all kinds of flight conditions before even leaving the ground. It’s immersive, innovative and downright fun.
The staff at Atlas are more than instructors, they’re mentors, motivators and the kind of people who get as excited about first solo flights as their students do. Their goal is to turn Casper into a hub for aviation excellence, one takeoff at a time.
In five years from now, they hope to be known as the destination for pilot training in the Mountain West. For now, they’re thrilled to keep helping students take the leap, throttle up and chase the wild blue yonder.
