Raising a child with attachment disorders or trauma-related challenges can feel isolating, but it doesn’t have to be. The Alliance for Attachment Injured Families was founded by a small group of Wyoming families who had adopted children through foster care. United by shared experiences and a desire for connection, they created a space where others could find the support, education and encouragement they had so desperately needed.

At its core, the Alliance believes in the power of community. Through advocacy and education, they aim to bridge the gap between families, educators and professionals, creating a better understanding of children affected by attachment injuries. They support entire family systems, recognizing that both adopted and biological children (and their parents) often need resources and empathy to thrive.

The Alliance is known for its deep, personal understanding of the issues it addresses. As the only group of its kind in Wyoming, and one of very few nationwide, AAIF has become a vital resource for those navigating the complexities of attachment disorders.

In 2025, the Alliance launched a groundbreaking partnership with Ragnar Defense to offer a new program, “A Paw to Hold”. This initiative provides scholarships to help families access trained psychiatric service dogs. These dogs are specially trained to support not only children with attachment injuries, but also family members dealing with anxiety, PTSD and other mental health challenges. Tasks like deep pressure therapy, grounding and panic interruption can be life-changing for families in crisis.

The Alliance For Attachment Injured Families believes in transformation. They give families hope, practical tools and the reassurance that they are not alone. With continued growth, more scholarships and expanded training opportunities on the horizon, the Alliance is building a future where healing and connection are possible for every family.
