For Kaylynn Henson, Sips Coffee was never just about caffeine; it was about community. When a local coffee shop in Casper was closing in 2020, Kaylynn’s late husband gave her a call that would change everything. “It’s time,” he said. They bought the inventory, took a leap and opened the first Sips Coffee in Glenrock in January 2021, completely self-financed through his 401(k).
Since then, Sips has grown steadily, built on Kaylynn’s relentless work ethic and her passion for people. “We knew we couldn’t build this alone,” she says. “Sips only exists because of the incredible team behind it.” That commitment to her staff is at the heart of the Sips culture. “Once you’re part of the Sips family, you always have a home.”
Kaylynn’s mother instilled in her a strong love for community. That value pours into everything she does. Whether it’s supporting local schools, hiring community-minded managers or creating a welcoming vibe for guests, Sips Coffee is rooted in giving back. Today, Sips employs 35 Casper residents and serves both sides of the city with a cozy café and convenient drive-thrus.
Every latte that leaves the counter is the product of obsession and care. “I’ve spent the last 4 years immersed in the coffee industry learning exactly what we needed to make our standard of drinks,” Kaylynn shares. “We don’t serve a drink unless it’s perfect. Coffee is an art, and our baristas are trained to honor that.”
While the future might hold more locations, Kaylynn is grounded in the present. “Life can change in an instant,” she says. “Right now, success is a happy team and a community we’ve helped.”
Fueled by a passion for people and community, Sips believes coffee is just the beginning. Their mission is to enrich lives, build meaningful connections and share their love of exceptional coffee. Because, at the heart of it all, coffee is the smallest part.
